『softspot』は、2020年から2021年にかけて生まれた思考や観察の集積で、断片的な流れの中で構想され、1年間の不安定なポートレートが浮かび上がる一冊となっています。「身近なものを収める容器」として考えられたこの書籍は、散文や詩、視覚的な作品が織り交ぜられ、主観と客観の間を行き来しています。一人の作家の視点を通して書かれ、さまざまな寄稿や引用によって広がりを見せる本書は、言葉のあり方、そしてそれを手に取ることの意味を探求する試みなのです。
ジェームス・テイラー・フォスターは、イギリスとスウェーデンを拠点とする作家・文化批評家・デザインおよびデジタル文化のキュレーター。建築を学び、幅広い分野で執筆・キュレーション活動を行っています。

#softspot is a family of thoughts and observations made during 2020 and 2021. Conceived in a state of fragmented flow, an unsteady portrait of a year emerges that has be Imagined as a “container for the near and the close,” it contains a patchwork of prose, verse and visual work that oscillates between the subjective and the objective. Written through the lens of one writer and augmented by contributions and references, the book represents a study in how words can be written – and how they can be held in a hand.
